Matt Jeneroux was elected in Edmonton Riverbend as a Conservative Member of Parliament – representing constituents who chose him under a specific platform and set of commitments.

This week, Jeneroux crossed the floor to join the Liberal Party caucus, in a move welcomed by Prime Minister Mark Carney and seen as helping the government inch toward a majority in the House of Commons.

Floor-crossing may be legal, but it has serious democratic implications. Voters did not elect him to support the very government whose policies they rejected at the ballot box, and they were never asked whether they agreed to this sudden change in representation.

Canadians deserve accountability. If Matt Jeneroux now believes his political identity and priorities align with a different party, the only principled course of action is to resign his seat and let the voters decide who should represent them under this new affiliation.

Anything short of resigning undermines trust in our democratic process and disrespects the choice of the people of Edmonton Riverbend.

Matt Jeneroux should resign as MP. Sign below if you agree.
