Trump’s commitment to American energy independence has endangered Canada’s reliance on the cross-border pipelines that get energy to Ontario (and other eastern provinces).

This has re-ignited the pipeline debate in Canada. 

Despite the fact that Alberta sits on massive oil reserves, pipelines have faced challenges getting built in Canada for many years. 

Energy East and the Enbridge Northern Gateway project were both cancelled because of internal Canadian disagreements. 

From the west coast to the east coast, those disagreements continue today. 

Alberta premier Danielle Smith is for them; BC premier David Eby is against them.

Ontario premier Doug Ford is for them; Quebec Premier François Legault is against them.

Some indigenous groups are for them; some are against them. 

Mark Carney has promised to get more pipelines built, but without more consensus, it simply can’t happen. 

So, let’s ask the Canadian people:
